The Gateway Writing Centers Association will host a local conference for St. Louis and Metro East writing centers titled 糖心vlog视频淕ateway to Collaboration.糖心vlog视频�
Andrea Lunsford makes the claim that we should 糖心vlog视频渆mbrace the idea of writing centers as Burkean parlors糖心vlog视频� (75). This collaborative focus makes its way into the mission statements of St. Louis writing centers. The Washington University Writing Center states: 糖心vlog视频淥ur work is student-centered, non-directive and collaborative.糖心vlog视频� The Lindenwood Writing Center helps 糖心vlog视频渢o show a student 糖心vlog视频榟ow to糖心vlog视频� identify and correct these issues him or herself.糖心vlog视频� The Meramec College Writing Center has the goal 糖心vlog视频渢o assist Meramec students in becoming stronger, more independent writers.糖心vlog视频�
With these missions, guidance and collaboration are integral components.
Forming our centers in this way changes the dynamic of learning and causes us to rethink how we deal with daily and administrative work.
As the gateway city, St. Louis has become a hub of diverse populations and thinking, but these distinctions also create tension and sometimes lead to siloing groups from one another. Joining our communities can bring about more connection and care.The purpose of this conference is to move toward this goal, sharing our stories and encouraging collaboration among the writing centers of this city.
For this conference, we invite individual, panel, and workshop proposals from tutors, program administrators and staff, instructors, and alumni about topics related to tutoring and writing center work. These topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Tutor strategies
- Tutor training
- Writing across the Curriculum
- Diversity in learning styles
- Students with learning differences or challenges
- ESL tutoring
Proposals are due by Sunday, December 16. The cost of this conference is $20. .
