Class Type
Workshop & Literature
Course Description
This course will look at texts that retell famous tales for the contemporary Young Adult and Middle-Grade reader. We will consider why authors choose retellings, what makes a strong retelling, and why readers keep returning to updates of classic tales. Students will read extensively and then compose a retold short story. Readings may include retellings of Edger Allen Poe, Shakespeare, myths, and more.
